Pvt. John Cookson's Request for Transfer. (Back) This is a very poor copy of the original letter Pvt. Cookson sent to General Cooper where he wants to be transferred from Scott's Battery to the Confederate Navy. For the record his request was denied. He was still with the battery at Missionary Ridge. |
Lt. Greenlaw Resigns. This is a very poor copy of the original letter. Lt. Greenlaw resigned on Jan. 25, 1862 after second Lt. William L. Scott was promoted ahead of him to first lieutenant. The post had been vacant for some time as 1st. Lt. Hume had been promoted to captain and transferred to command the batteries at Island number 10. His letter is written in his own hand.
